A multiwall-carbon nanotubes modified glassy carbon (MWCNTCPE) electrode was prepared to determine sugar in the milk (SIM) using differential pulse voltammetry. The concentration of SIM could be linearly related to the current intensity. This MWCNT CPE has a higher sensitivity than conventional paste electrodes and bare GCE. It has a low bias, and is highly reproducible. MWCNT CPE is also capable of detecting Cd2+ & Pb2+ simultaneously using linear sweep stripping voltammetry.
To further improve its analytical performance, the MWCNT CPE was modified with antimony oxide at a ratio of 1 wt.% - 3 wt.% by linear sweep stripping voltammetry for the simultaneous electrochemical determination of Cd2+ ions and Pb2+. The Sb2O3/MWCNTs-modified MWCNT-CPE showed the best performance among the three kinds of prepared electrodes with different mass percentage of MWCNTs. The MWCNT CPE's good analytical sensitivity was attributed to the better surface homogeneity. This can be confirmed using scanning electron microscopy images.
