Resulf 30 IEP Plus is the preferred yield monitor for use in ferro silicon inoculants. It is very effective in reducing chill and carbide formation in corrosion resistant cast irons, steam and water pressure gray irons and improves machinability in ductile irons.
A special 75% ferro silicon inoculant with controlled levels of calcium, barium, strontium and aluminum. IM SR has been shown to be highly effective at reducing chill formation and increasing graphite structure in both gray and ductile irons, especially at reduced addition rates. It can replace high-potency rare earth-based inoculants and is capable of achieving similar results.

Grain morphology is an important characteristic of cast Al alloys. Inoculants can promote the formation of a fully equiaxed grain structure during solidification. Thermal analysis tests show that the master alloy contains potent nucleants for heterogeneous nucleation of a-Al. Moreover, at holding-mixing cycles, a thermodynamic driving force exists to transform matrix Al from AlB12 to AlB2. The transformation is confirmed by backscattered SEM (Fig. 5): dark particles correspond to AlB12 and light gray ones to AlB2.
