Silicon Barium Inoculants For Foundry

Graphite nodularity in high silicon ductile iron requires special inoculation. This involves the controlled addition of inoculant alloys based on graphite, ferrosilicon and calcium suicide.

Inoculation significantly increases the nodule count compared to non-inoculated reference samples for all wall thicknesses investigated. However, the nodule morphology varies with the inoculating element used and solidification cooling rate.

Product Description

Silicon Barium Inoculants is a special inoculant which contains silicon, zirconium, calcium and barium. It is suitable for inoculating gray cast iron and ductile cast iron. It can increase the number of graphite particles, improve the spheroidization effect and reduce segregation. It is also an effective deoxidizer for molten steel.

It can promote the formation of type A graphite, disperse or reduce cementite and phosphorus eutectic. It can also improve the fluidity of molten iron and improve its form. It is also a good anti-fading agent and can improve the toughness of the metal.

The global market for Silicon Barium Inoculant is projected to grow at a readjusted CAGR of over 2029 from 2018-2029. This market is categorized by Type and Application with sales, market share and growth rate forecast by each segment for the period 2018-2029. The major drivers and restraints for the market have been considered in the report. COVID-19 and Russia-Ukraine war influence on the market is also analyzed in this report.

Application

Inoculation is one of the most important and complex elements in foundry technology. It requires the perfect combination of elements in a single homogenous addition in order to achieve the desired cast metal structure and matrix. There are many permutations and combinations of different elements available in the market and the best choice depends on the foundry process, cast iron type and application.

Silicon barium is the inoculant of choice for gray and nodular cast iron. It can promote the formation of A-type graphite, and improve the spherroidization grade. It can also be used as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer. It can be used in conjunction with other inoculants to achieve superior results.

COMETAL offers a complete line of inoculants for grey and nodular cast irons. These products include in-mould inoculants GERMALLOY for nodular cast iron and OPTIGRAN for grey cast iron, deoxidizers and desulfurizers, broth cleaners and preconditioners, DURRANS recarburisers, chromite sand, calcium carbide and silica shots.

Specification

We are one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of Silicon Barium Inoculants for Foundry. These inoculants are added to the liquid iron as soon as it enters the ladle or later on. The inoculants are used to prevent chill phenomenon and can also significantly reduce the relative hardness of castings, as well as improve the machinability of cast iron parts.

The inoculation can increase the graphitization core, refinement of graphite, promote get A type grapgite from the nodular cast iron and improve spheroidization grade. It can also effectively reduce the molten iron super-cooling degree, promote the precipitation of graphite and eliminate the cementite, scatter or reduce phosphorus eutectic.

Nodule count in inoculated ductile cast irons is less dependent on wedge section size and cooling rate, with the position of the lowest graphite particles as length, area and perimeter (convex and real) characterized by more restricted values. The values are also lower with Ca-FeSi and Ca, Ba-FeSi inoculation compared to the uninoculation, but more accentuated for Ca, RE-bearing FeSi inoculation.

Packaging

Inoculants are used to ensure adequate nucleation during the solidification of molten cast iron. Inoculants increase the number of nucleation sites, and thus promote graphite formation rather than cementite (iron carbide). They can be added to the metal stream in ladle or in-stream inoculant injectors, or directly into the mold as inoculant blocks.

The spheroidal silicon barium inoculant is a kind of FeSi-based alloy containing certain amount of barium and calcium, it can remarkably reduce the chill phenomenon and generate very little residue, and has the same inoculating performance as the inoculant that only contains calcium, but its advantage is that it can have a stronger control on the chill than the inoculant that only contain calcium.

Ferro Silicon strontium inoculant can be poured into the metal smelting furnace, after a short time it will promote the graphitization of molten iron and reduce the tendency of whitening, improve different thickness section structure uniformity and hardness consistency, reduce abrasion of casting.
