Steelmaking With GPC

Steelmaking with GPC, a type of graphitized petroleum coal, is produced by calcining the green coke at high temperatures, which has good metallurgical characteristics. It is widely applied as a carbon addition in steelmaking and smelting. It can reduce the amount of cast iron slag while improving the cast iron content. It can also be used as a replacement for traditional fuel in oxygen converters and electrosmelting.

Compared with natural graphite and calcined anthracite, it has the advantage of low price and easy availability. It is widely employed in the smelting aluminum, copper and alloys. It can raise the furnace temperature to improve carburizing.
