The manufacturing process of calcium carbide uses a similar set up of steps as that of smelting steel and iron, which further reduces the production costs.

The metal-cleaning industry is also a major user of electrode powder, which is required to remove impurities from metallic surfaces. The paste's low ash content and conductive nature make it an effective tool for removing unwanted impurities. Furthermore, its high thermal stability enables it to withstand the extremely high temperatures that are typically encountered in the electric arc and submerged arc furnaces where it is used. These factors contribute significantly to its market share.
