Pure Calcium Cored Wire Industrial Use

Pure Calcium Cored wire for Industrial Use

Pure metallic calcium wires are a speciality in the steel manufacturing industry. It is mainly applied to the calcium treatment of molten metal in the process deoxidation desulfurization, and inclusion modification. It consists primarily of a sheath made from low-carbon strips of steel, and a pure metallic core with a fine texture and high stability.

It can replace the conventional Ca/CaSi granules added directly to the ladle. The cored wire is more efficient at recovering calcium, and can also help to change the inclusion composition. The cored wire is available in a range of diameters from 9mm to 16mm. It can be coiled and stored in a variety of ways, such as on wood or steel pallets, in the form of steel cages and even wrapped in PVC stretch foil.

LS Ferroalloy provides high-quality, pure calcium cored steel wire to the steelmaking industry. Hi-Cal cored wire has a sheath welded of high purity metallic caustic calcium with a higher powder to sheath ratio than conventional products. It can be fed by the existing equipment used in the plant, allowing it to reach further into the molten iron than traditional cored products and reducing investment costs.

Hi-Cal has other advantages besides cost reduction, such as lower iron content and stable molten flow rate. This leads to better casting performance and mechanical properties in the resulting cast-iron. The sheath also protects the melted calcium from corrosion and prevents the formation of slag on the surface of the molten steel, which can be very difficult to remove.

The demand for steel is increasing due to the development of infrastructure and manufacturing projects. Asia Pacific, the world's largest steel producer, is the biggest contributor to global cored-wire market growth.

To ensure optimal performance, cored electrodes must be installed and used correctly. Incorrect operation may cause serious accidents or damage to the steelmaking processes. Therefore, it is important to follow the operational manual and closely monitor the state of the molten steel in order to make timely adjustments.

LS Ferroalloy's professional technical team has over 20 years of experience in producing cored electrodes. They are committed to delivering the highest quality electrodes, which meet industry standards. Our team is here to help you with all your questions and needs.
