Pure Calcium Cored Wire Company

The cored wire is a strip-shaped steel rod wrapped with alloy powder and it can be divided into many kinds of products according to the different alloy powder: silicon, calcium, aluminum, barium, etc. The cored wire is used for steelmaking. It can be used to clean the steel, modify the shape of the inclusions and enhance the casting properties of the steel. It can also reduce the smelting duration, improve the composition and increase the smelting output.

It consists of a cold-rolled low carbon steel strip on the outside and pure calcium or metal calcium (or mixed calcium iron) granules or solid calcium core inside. In order to use it, a wire cored feeder is required. It can reduce the burning loss of the metal calcium and make the metal calcium fully react with the molten steel to improve the absorption rate of the molten steel. It is widely used in the ladle refining process for de-oxidizing and desulfurizing.

In comparison with the pure calcium wire of old, this new cored calcium wire improves the performance of steel, by reducing the content of oxygen and sulfur in it, changing the shape of inclusions and resolving the problem of blockage of the nozzle during continuous casting for aluminum killed steel. It can also reduce the smelting time, shorten the smelting process and save energy.

Sheaths of new cored calcium wire are made from high-quality steel, which ensures the strength and stability of the product. Although its thickness is usually 0.4 mm and it can perform better, there are some cored-wires with a thicker sheath.

Cored wire can help to improve the quality of steel, reduce the consumption of raw materials and fuel, lower smelting costs and reduce pollution. Keep in mind that cored-wire performance is dependent on steel quality, injection rate and sheath size.

If you are using pure calcium wires, make sure that they penetrate the slag layers and reach the bottom. To prevent calcium from oxidizing, the slag should be sufficiently covered. Oxidation can cause the calcium to reduce in amount and affect the steel. In addition, it is crucial to monitor the slag and cored wire temperature to ensure that the melting temperatures are in line with each other. Moreover, the cored wire must be sufficiently strong to ensure that it can overcome the resistance of the slag. The friction caused between the slag layer and the steel melting melt will reduce smelting loss. The smelting process can therefore be significantly improved. MINCAL EXCEL offers high quality wires that can be used to calcium treat liquid steel. This reduces the costs of processing the steel as well decreases the stock of CaSi.
