Petrol coke is also called petcoke. It's a product of crude oil distillation. It is a hard brittle solid that can be granular or coarse. This is the byproduct from a coker unit at a crude refinery. In order to separate heavy and light components, such as sulfur, hydrogen, nitrogen and metals, the petroleum coke production process requires thermal cracking heavy crude oil. This is achieved by heating heavy crude oil in a coaler to extremely high temperatures where the hydrocarbons break down. The resultant coke may be fuel or anode quality.
Fuel grade petcoke, also known as fuel grade petcoke, is used to generate heat in industrial boilers. It is low in sulfur and ash content, making it a suitable alternative to coal for power generation and other industrial uses. It is also used as an alternative to natural gas in generating steam for refining. Fuel grade petcoke helps reduce greenhouse gasses and other pollutants.
This petcoke can be calcined into anodes for the aluminum melting process. The majority of production is used to produce anodes for aluminum smelting. Due to the high temperatures of an aluminum melt, anodes are required that can handle these extreme conditions. These anodes are made from calcined PETCOKE, which is rich in graphite, but low in other metals like sulfur, copper, or iron.
Market growth is forecast to be rapid over the period of time. Major factors that are driving this market growth include the growing steel industry, the development of cement and power-generation industries, the increase in heavy oil supply globally, the favorable government initiatives concerning the environment and the increasing use of anode-grade calcined petroleum coke in aluminum smelting.
In order to meet the ever-increasing demand for calcined petroleum coke, manufacturers are making efforts to develop novel manufacturing processes for this byproduct of crude oil distillation. These novel manufacturing processes are expected to improve the properties of this material and expand its applications.
This multi-billion-dollar industry offers its customers a variety of services and products. They include: (a) Carbon machined forms, (b) Refractory Materials for Melting & Handling Systems, (c) Metalurgical Coke,(d) Anode Grade Calcined Petcoke, or (e) Needle Grade Calcined Petcoke.
