Sicaba Inoculant For Foundry From China

Sicaba Inoculant for Foundry From China

Silicon barium inoculant is a kind of artificial composite ferro alloys product. It is widely used in the production process of cast iron. It has the functions of deoxidation and purification, and can improve the quality of castings.

In addition, it has the effect of increasing the silicon content and desulfurization. It can also improve the quality of iron.

This product is a high-performance nodulizer for the production of cast iron. It is suitable for large section castings and can delay the spheroidal decline.

It can reduce the occurrence of smoke and flame when joining in steelmaking, and change the distribution of non-metallic inclusions in the steel. It can also reduce the sensitivity of sections, and improve the cutting performance.

During the casting process, inoculants are added to the melt or to the ladle. They help to eliminate chill, promote graphite formation and increase the strength of cast iron.

Inoculants can be formulated in a number of different ways and vary according to the application. Elkem offers an extensive range of premium inoculants, supplied globally, and our specialists will help you select the right ones for your casting application.

For gray cast iron, the most effective inoculant is a combination of metallurgical silicon carbide and crystalline graphite. The recommended dosage is 0.75 to 1.0%.

CAT Inoculant For Grey Iron With Low Nucleation Properties

A recent paper reported that a proprietary oxy-sulfide inoculant (CAT) produced by the company Integrated Metal Technologies (IMT) is more effective than 85% calcium-bearing FeSi75 inoculation for a low sulfur base iron. The CAT inoculant tablets contain almost seven times the active nucleating elements that are present in foundry-grade FeSi75.

The patented CAT technology provides chemically fresh sulfur surfaces that allow aluminum, calcium, and other inoculating elements to react in-situ. Moreover, the proprietary inoculants are activated at lower temperatures than 85% FeSi75. The result is a much lower inoculant dosage, which results in significantly reduced cost and waste.
