Uses For a Silicon Carbide Disc

A silicon carbide disc is an excellent choice for a variety of sanding applications. They're especially useful in removing plasterboard, concrete, and old paint. They can also be used to remove underseal from wood. Other applications for this type of disc include universal grinding work, and they can be used on titanium alloys.

Semi-Flex vulcanized fiber backed discs

Silicon carbide discs are used for concrete prep work and floor coating removal. The phenolic or vulcanized fiber backing offers increased strength, while the rigid design allows for greater control when grinding corners. Discs are available in a variety of grits, from coarse to fine, ranging from 24 to 80 grit.

The high-quality grains of silicon carbide in BHA's Semi-Flex discs create a spiral pattern that increases airflow and reduces loading during use. This allows for a consistent cut rate over the disc's useful life. In addition, the extreme sharpness of the silicon carbide grains produces a finer scratch pattern and increases cutting speed.

Rapid Strip discs

Rapid Strip silicon carbide discs are a great choice for many applications. These discs are nonwoven and depressed in the center to provide excellent scrubbing action and are a safe alternative to wire brushes. They are great for removing rust, discoloration, and parting lines without damaging the parent material. In addition, they have an advanced resin bonding process that reduces shedding. They also have an aggressive cutting power.

Rapid Strip silicon carbide discs are made of extra-coarse silicon carbide, which cuts harder than finer grades. Silicon carbide is also one of the sharpest synthetic minerals available, and breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, leaving a finer finish. In addition, they are engineered with gaps between fibers, which allow debris to escape and enhance the abrasive's ability to resist load.

Standard abrasives discs

The Standard Abrasives brand has been providing high-quality abrasives to the metalworking industry for over 50 years. Its extensive product line includes coated, bonded and non-woven abrasives. These products are designed for fast, consistent cutting action and are suitable for light-duty finishing and polishing tasks.

Silicon carbide discs can be used in deburring, polishing, and blending applications. These discs are constructed with extra-coarse silicon carbide and synthetic fibres. They are suitable for wet finishing of car bodies, e-coat, and varnished surfaces. Their uniform matting properties make them ideal for polishing and grinding automotive surface coatings. They are available in slurries and powders.

Bona 8100 disc

The Bona 8100 silicon carbide disc is a standard abrasive for use on high-speed machines. Its design and material makes it ideal for many purposes, including sanding between coats of paint, polishing and cleaning. The lightweight material is also good for buffed floors, and is available in two different qualities.

This disc has been developed for use on the Bona Mini Edge sander, Quattro Disc sander, and Edge Sander. It is designed for the most common situations when sanding wooden floors, including finishing rough edges and repairing scratches and gouges. Its low-abrasive strength, combined with its antistatic coating, makes it a superior choice for wood floors.
